Handbags!

I have handbags on the brain. Maybe it's the change in season, maybe I'm just looking for an excuse! Either way, below are the top three bags that are creating a lust in my gut, making me want to immediately reach for the wallet.

First - the canvas/leather bucket tote from Land's End Canvas. I love canvas bags in the spring/summer and the brown leather is a nice detail. I also love that it has handles AND a cross-body strap.

Second - Boston designer renneslechateau is now making 12" sized wallet/clutches which I am in love with, especially the sandy camel color. I think this could be perfect carried alone or tucked into one of my larger tote bags.

Third - Molly's Sketchbook over on the Purl Bee has posted a 'make it yourself' braided handle tote bag that is pretty darn cute (and made of canvas!). I'm not that wild about the teardrop shape but, if you're making this yourself, that is easily remedied!

A Finished Pair

It's been over a year since I started these gloves. I finished the first one fast enough but just couldn't motivate myself to start the second glove. Now, finally, a finished pair. The glove pattern is by Veronik Avery, who has become one of my favorite designers. These gloves are from the book 'Knitting Classic Style' and can be seen in the book accompanied by gorgeous fingerless mitts:

I already have the yarn purchased for the fingerless mitts. I've never done color work before so I think this will be a good starter project.  When I'm ready. Ha ha. I just started some socks for Adam and yarn is coming in next week for the Heliotropic Pullover from the spring Interweave Knits magazine. So many projects, so little time.

Another take-out menu under the door - or so I thought!
Upon closer inspection I came to find that it's not just tacos, it's Tex-Mex AND Chinese!  Finally a solution for all those times when Adam and I argue eggrolls vs tacos. Oh this menu makes me so happy. So funny, so awesome.

Done & Done

First done would be the DIY Bicolor Dress inspired by Style Scrapbook. I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I'm also happy with the small achievements - 1) I successfully threaded my new serger on the first go and used it on this dress 2) the shirt portion has flatfelled side seams which I was able to measure out and continue along the skirt portion, making it look super pro.

Second done would be the 'Tiny Pocket Tank' by grainline. The tank came out pretty good. I didn't have enough lighting to photograph it on, this one was finished late and the flash on my camera is awful. I may make a size smaller next time as this one is a little too blousy-blousy. Safe to say, I'm not great at making fit adjustments. Either way, I will definitely make a second.
