Almost There

So my Spring Reina sweater is officially off the needles. I posted about doing a version of the Steven Alan Sweater earlier this month. Unfortunately these are not the best photos.

The lighting in the apartment is rather dim so the color looks much darker than it is in person. I'm hoping to get it blocked this week. The bottom ribbing doesn't quite lie flat. Hopefully a good wash will get everything looking right.

Husband Hearts Homemade Socks

I've very lucky to have a husband who knits and appreciates hand knit items. He loves bright, funky socks and I've just completed a new pair for him. They were made to his specifications - low, ankle socks with a ribbed pattern to hug his feet.

They were made with the brightest yarn in my stash, a skein from Creatively Dyed, purchased at the New York Sheep & Wool festival two years ago.

And this is him savoring the comfort and foot hugging goodness of his freshly knit socks. I can't wait till he puts his orange shoes on. Ha ha!

Apartment Envy

I just stumbled upon a photo montage of designer Erin Fetherston's home on vogue.com and am having serious apartment envy. These are my favorite photos but there are many more on the vogue.com website. I love the blue and cream colors, the sheep as side table and the candles placed in the bottom of large glass vases ...

Finished Dress

Yay - another spring dress finished and waiting for warmer weather! I really love this print. I have about 2 yards left over. Could be another tank or maybe a bag ...? Will need to think on it for a while. I'm hoping to have my Steven Alan Spring Reina sweater finished soon. The sleeves are on and I'm working my way up to the collar!

Spring Dress #2

I got this beautiful fabric at Purl Soho during their clearance sale back in Feb/March. I've been so eager to make something with it. I had originally wanted to make a maxi dress but, after cutting out all the pattern pieces, I realized that I needed 60" fabric and this 45" print wasn't going to work. So I'll be making a short sleeveless number instead - an oldie but goodie I've made before. I can't wait to get sewing this weekend!

Relaxed Springtime Knitting

Just found this photo by The Sartorialist and I love it! She looks so relaxed plotting out her new creation. It makes me want to grab a blanket, my sweater and run over to Prospect Park for some outdoors knitting!

A Spring Reina Sweater

I fell in love with Steven Alan's Spring Reina Sweater the moment I saw it -
And quickly decided I could knit something similar! I decided to first consult Elizabeth Zimmermann and have adapted her seamless, bottom-up construction for this adventure. The yarn is a cotton/linen blend which should provide a good drape while being light enough for 2-3 seasons. I've got the majority of the body done and am now working on the sleeves.
I think it's coming together pretty well!
